Made for Community

By Kayla Blankenship

God created us for community. From the very beginning, the Bible paints a picture of togetherness. In Genesis 2:18 God declares, “It is not good for man to be alone.” This truth extends beyond marriage and relationships; it is a testament to the need for connection that God has woven into the fabric of our souls.

As women, we often wear many hats - wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, employees, or ministry leaders. In the busyness of life, it can feel easier to go at it alone, convincing ourselves we don’t have time for deeper relationships, or worse, that we aren’t worthy of deep relationships. Yet, one of the greatest gifts we were given was the gift of community to do life with.

“You were made for this”, you were made to live in the fullness of God and all He has for you. You were made for community and life friendships. We see throughout the Bible where God calls us to himself and others. I encourage you to stay connected to your community of Sisters. As Women, we carry a unique and beautiful ability to foster connection, encourage one another, and build up the body of Christ. Yet, many of us feel isolated, lonely, or even hesitant to lean on others. But the truth is, we were never meant to do life alone.

Even though we were made for community, many women struggle with embracing it. Some fear rejection, others battle insecurity, and many simply feel too busy to invest in deep relationships. But scripture calls us to push past these obstacles.

Hebrews 10: 24-25 urges us “Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.”

Building relationships takes effort, but it is always worth it.

If you feel alone, take a step of faith. Show up to your small group, invite a friend to coffee, or simply reach out to someone. Sometimes the community that we all crave is just one small step away.
