We Will See Adventure

I love to travel! It’s so fun to see different parts of the world and experience new customs and cultures. When I first started to travel I was what I like to call a ‘chronic over-packer’! Can you relate? I would get anxiety over what to bring and what to leave behind. I wanted to be prepared for every event, weather and feel accepted in whatever culture I found myself in. Is that so bad?

I’d pack out of the fear thinking I wouldn’t have everything that I needed when I got to my final destination. Do you ever feel like that? How about spiritually? Do you feel like God’s taking you or leading you somewhere and you just don’t think you’re going to have what you need to make the journey?

One thing’s for sure, if you have ever had to navigate airports, transportation, and hotels then you appreciate the ease of the journey when you pack light. No lost luggage, no waiting at baggage claim after a long flight, no throwing your back out trying to carry multiple suitcases at once! The list could go on and on.

Over the years, I have overcome my packing problems and perfected (for the most part) the way I travel. I have gone to Australia, Africa, Italy, Disney, and all over the US with just a carry-on! Don’t worry, I will share all my secrets with you, but when I do I want you to also hear them through a spiritual lens.

  • I pack light by preparing. I will try on my outfits and take a picture of them so I don’t have to be stressed about things that I can so easily take care of before I begin the trip.

  • I think multi-purpose and multi-functional with my wardrobe. Layers are great. Comfy, functional, cute shoes are a must!

  • I remind myself when I feel like I’m forgetting something that I can buy whatever I need when I get there! Although my Amex card may have a limit, my God does not!

  • When I’m struggling with whether or not to leave something behind, I remind myself that if I’m too bogged down and over-packed I won’t have any room for something new to bring home from my journey.

Do you realize the Lord wants to take you on the trip of a lifetime? As we have left 2021 and entered 2022 what do you need to leave behind and what do you need to take with you?
2 Timothy 4:2 clearly says for us to “…be prepared in season and out of season”. Today take the time to evaluate what’s truly necessary for your journey and remember that God has something incredibly new for you this year, you don’t need a bunch of baggage bogging you down!

Here’s a sneak peek of some of my Packing Must Have’s and Must Leave’s for this next adventure! I’ve tried them all on and I know what’s deserving of the trip.

Leave behinds Taking with me
Hurts — Obedience to do the hard things no matter the cost
Disappointments — God’s Promises and blessings
Chaos — Disciplines that build me
Negative Relationships — Intentional Friendships
Bad habits — Time with God
Negative self-talk — Dreams and adventure
Fear — Courage
People’s expectations — God’s Direction

Take the time now to pack your bags, you never know when the Lord will ring the doorbell of your life and take you on a trip that is unbelievable!

We will see you on the road to adventure!
