We Will See It - The Hope of Heaven

When you think of heaven, what comes to mind? Is it streets of gold, angels singing, your loved ones all around you? Do any of us really know what we will truly see?

My precious 3-year-old son, River, used to say he would see a big t-rex in heaven, but it would be nice and soft. We always smiled at that thought. This tiny little human talked of heaven so much for someone so young. He knew Jesus was his friend, and I loved what he would see with his childlike faith. It was just 3 months after he made that statement that he actually did go home to be with Jesus.

This world is tragic, unpredictable, sinful, painful, and oh so hard at times. But, it is also so beautiful, so full of goodness, and so full of love, light and hope. We have done a lot of crying out to God over the last couple of years, a lot of digging deep into the Word, into our faith, and into what we know to be true about our God.

Here is what I’ve come to know.

Heaven is real. Because of Christ’s life and death on the cross, we have the gift of eternal life. We believe what the bible says is true and this means that no matter what we face in this fallen world, for those who follow Christ and trust in our Lord, we know that this is not our only home. We have the hope of heaven. How amazing is that?

We don’t have to live in fear. Scripture tells us in John 14, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” He goes to prepare a place for us. He will come again and take us to be with Him. We will soon be reunited with our Heavenly Father. Not only will we see IT, we will see HIM.

The hope of heaven helps to take away our pain today. This ensures we can have purpose and meaning in THIS life, not just the next.  Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:17 that, “this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.”

Soon all will be restored. “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4

We have to keep looking up, Sisters. We must take our eyes off the things of this world and keep them on the hope, the truth, and the promises of God. For what is to come is far greater than anything we could ever imagine. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9.

I don’t know if my sweet boy got to see his t-rex in heaven, but I do know he now dwells with his friend, the One True King. I see the hope of heaven every day and I guarantee if you put your life fully in Christ’s hands, you will see it too. Jesus is our living hope.

Lastly, Sisters, I know God is good. Even if. He is so close to the brokenhearted. He sees every tear, hears every prayer and meets us right where we are, right in the middle of our mess. He is faithful and I promise He is working out everything for your good and His glory.

I hope you go into today believing in the hope of heaven - we will see it.  I’m sending you all so much love.
